JET – Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training and
AEOA – Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency
CareerForce Proud Partners, Broaden Accessibility Services
Press Release: January 16, 2023
JET – Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training and AEOA – Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, CareerForce Proud Partners, are excited to announce they are opening up opportunities for job seekers and employers in Koochiching County to access programs and services which are essential to workforce, community, and economic development in Northeast Minnesota. “In an effort to adapt our physical footprint and service delivery model to meet the needs of our region, we made the decision to broaden our reach by releasing our leased space on the Minnesota North-Rainy River campus, allowing us to continue to meet and serve individuals on that campus while also expanding opportunities to meet and serve individual’s at other accessible and convenient locations throughout Koochiching County,” said Executive Director of JET, Marie Domiano.
In a collaborative effort to seek alternative and creative ways to provide job seeker and employer services, the two organizations engaged in significant research and dialogue with internal stakeholders and discovered they needed to evolve their service delivery model to meet the new and unprecendented demands they are facing as a result of the pandemic and re-imagine what excellence in service looks and feels like.
JET and AEOA have both performed successfully, for over a combined century, administering a variety of Department of Human Services (DHS), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Minnesota state grants, including the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and state and federal Dislocated Worker, Adult, and Youth programs. All programs aim to provide career exploration and preparation services for a wide variety of job-seeking clients. In International Falls, they have successfully met performance measures, despite having a location that had been largely inaccessible for many disconnected populations, especially those at-risk and high priority of service customers, such as BIPOC, people with disabilities, and those who lack access to childcare and transportation. This is especially true for rural Koochiching County customers who live anywhere from 20 to 90 miles from the CareerForce location on the Minnesota North-Rainy River campus without access to public transit.
This location change now situates JET and AEOA in the heart of downtown International Falls and encompasses two primary spaces, in addition to a variety of other access points for those in need of services. The first space is a co-working space at the new Ballan’s iSpace where Career Counselors are able to meet with individuals by appointment, in a private space which honors and respects the clients’ rights to confidentiality and privacy. The second space is a public, walk-in space at the CareerForce Corner in International Falls Public Library, where individuals can come at their leisure and connect with expert staff and other job seekers facing similar challenges. JET and AEOA staff will now have the resources and flexibility to travel the county more extensively, with the option to provide services in the field anywhere in the county, or on-site within the two primary spaces – allowing them to be proactive in reaching those most in need and creating an innovative approach that will lead to maximum impact in Koochiching County.
Fiscally, this location change makes sense and is a wiser use of taxpayer dollars as it will drastically reduce the overall physical footprint of CareerForce partners, ultimately maximizing space, reducing natural resource usage, and increasing staff accessibility and efficiency. Moreover, this location change will continue to uphold the workforce development system focused on both job seeker and employer customers that anticipates and responds to the needs of the local and regional economy through high quality, timely, and accessible services and referrals. A major strength of the International Falls JET and AEOA teams are their community minded approach and connections to the job seekers and stakeholders of their economy. With this location change, JET and AEOA staff will be more available and present to all customers to address economic needs and provide appropriate referrals to other CareerForce and community partners as they will have a greater presence in the field through long established partnerships where they are able to utilize space across the county.
As JET and AEOA look to embrace the forward momentum of re-imagining job seeker and employer service delivery through equity, proactivity, and flexibility, they recognize that this ideology of improved and different service delivery strategies is new and different. However, be assured that JET and AEOA staff will continue to provide comprehensive career services to individuals, employers, and community partners from the new, customer-focused location, Ballan’s iSpace, at the CareerForce Corner within the International Falls Public Library, and through community networking and outreach services!

Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training Expands Their Mission
News Release, October 5th, 2021
DULUTH, MN — The Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training (NEMOJT) opened their doors to the Northland over 40 years ago, with a commitment to supporting and uplifting those looking for jobs, stability, and financial independence.
Now, NEMOJT is pleased to announce a rebranding and relaunch as JET; Jobs, Empowerment, Training. Undertaken with their agency partner, Swim Creative — a branding, interactive and advertising firm — their brand now fully reflects their values as a company wholeheartedly committed to helping people find not just jobs, but a path to their best life.
“At JET, we are not only focused on career readiness and job placement, but also on being a reliable, knowledgeable resource to empower people to reach their goals in all aspects of life and well-being – economic, social, emotional, physical, and psychological. In order for individuals to enter, remain and succeed in the workforce, the whole person must be served – and that is JET’s commitment and mission – ‘Build thriving communities by guiding and empowering individuals’,” said Marie Domiano, Executive Director.” “Our new name comes after decades of listening to and understanding each person that comes to us for answers or assistance. It was time to remind the region that we’re so much more than just job placement. That’s why we turned to Swim Creative, who worked with us to create a new logo and brand that encapsulates our mission, values, and long-standing history of excellence. We are incredibly happy with the outcome and look forward to helping more people across the Northland.”
After many years of supporting their communities, JET is ready to go further by counseling people through abuse, medical challenges, and mental health barriers by modeling and promoting self-advocacy while providing support for retraining, childcare, transportation and more.
“JET is all about listening to and helping the people,” said, Patrice Bradley, Swim’s CEO and Creative Director. “We’re excited to see how JET is going to continue to impact and help so many lives. We take great pride in partnering with companies with a mission like JET’s.”
